September 2003
Volume 8, Number 9

James HarmanWest Coast blues cat James Harman is back with a fine independent release, Lonesome Moon Trance. It's this month's Pick Hit.

Memphis artist William Lee Ellis' regular gig is as a music critic, but he's also a pretty darned good traditional-style artist in his own right. Read all about his latest disc, Conqueroo, in this month's Surprise pick.

Soul/blues singer Lou Pride is still going strong with some excellent releases in the past few years, but this one flashes us back to the early '70s for recordings made in both Memphis and El Paso. It's this month's Flashback feature.

This month's What's New section includes new CDs from Little George Sueref, Big Dave McLean, Big Bill Morganfield, Rory Block, Eric Sardinas, Eddy Clearwater, Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets, Chris Cain, Renee Austin, and more, plus a look back at classic early recordings from The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
