Maria MuldaurVeteran singer Maria Muldaur has been performing for nearly 50 years. She may have come up with of her best yet in Stony Plain's Steady Love. It's this month's Pick Hit.

The computer software world's loss is the music biz's gain, as Jim Allchin gave up his technology career to pick up the guitar and play music full-time. You can hear the results of his transition on his latest disc, Overclocked, our Surprise feature for this issue.

Delmark Records has re-issued the classic Junior Wells album, Hoodoo Man Blues, complete with scads of alternate takes. This gem is this month's Flashback feature.

Our What's New section features new releases from Dani Wilde, Bernie Pearl, Samantha Fish, Louisiana Red, Duke Robillard, The Bottoms Up Blues Gang, Jay Gordon's Blues Venom, Ian Siegal, and more, plus a book on the origin of the blues from Dr. Pascal Bokar Thiam.
